Distance makes no difference. The Office of International Alumnae Relations and Development exists to help build and nurture relations with alums living outside of the United States. Smith is a global institution and no matter where you live, you can enjoy alum benefits and access to our powerful network, volunteer with the college, join (or start!) a club in your area, listen to (or give!) webinars and find out what your friends and classmates are up to—and so much more. Our international alums also share a common commitment to give to Smith in order to help the college flourish. We appreciate your support, and we’ve made the giving process seamless and easy, no matter where you live.

Smith College Global Connections is a Facebook page celebrating all things global at Smith. Follow us to connect with the college and other alumnae around the world.

A Word from the Director

“What does it mean to be a ‘Smithie?’ It is not one thing, not easily summed up in a word or a phrase—but when you meet a Smithie, you have a sense of what ‘it’ is. Whether in Toronto, Buenos Aires, Hong Kong, London, Mumbai, Dubai, Nairobi, Paris or any other place in the world, Smithies have a purposeful way of being that is immediately recognizable. With an expansive, interconnected global network like ours you will never be far from Smith. I invite you to get involved in the many opportunities that this diverse global network makes possible.”

Giving to Smith from Abroad

Think back to your time at Smith: Whether you came to Smith from far or near, when you arrived on campus you were immediately part of a global community full of possibility—the possibility of finding and using your voice and of mapping your own way in the world. The power of a Smith education is that it gives you countless options. Now you have the opportunity to support other students as they arrive at Smith ready to start a similar journey.

The giving process is easy and straightforward. You can use a debit or credit card in any major currency to give to Smith via our secure donation page. Donors outside the United States can also make gifts with checks from U.S. bank accounts or via wire transfers. For detailed information regarding making a gift, please contact Director of International Alumnae Relations and Development, Jacqui DeFelice at jdefelice@smith.edu.

Financial aid has the power to change the trajectory of someone’s life and opens up a world of possibilities. Students and alums who have received scholarship support regularly share how much the aid has impacted their lives, introducing them to new experiences, shifting their perspectives and allowing them to pursue their ambitions.  Here are some of those stories:

Famous chefs, Pulitzer Prize winners, political columnists, environmental researchers, film directors, venture capitalists, physicists, poets, playwrights, CEOs—alums who have had the possibility of a Smith education apply their learning throughout their lives in ways that forever change the course of history.

Julia Child, Gloria Steinem and Sylvia Plath are among Smith’s most famous graduates, but there are many other Smith alums who impact the world for the better thanks to the influence of their Smith experience. Read more about them.

In addition to seeking endowed and current use donations for Scholarships, the New Neilson Library, the Center for the Creative and Performing Arts and Endowed Professorships, annual support of the Smith Fund is critically important for the college.

Small gifts, at regular intervals from many people, make a big difference. By coming together as a Smith Community, we increase the possibility of transforming lives and transforming the world—and the impact is tremendous. You are the source of Smith’s power. Please give at the height of your generosity.
