Biography
Yun has been active in the Seoul arts scene for the past six years in the field of contemporary dance, performance, and experimental film. While studying Comparative Literature with postcolonial scholar Helen J.S. Lee at Yonsei University she took part in Seoul International Improvisation Dance Festival with a group Dance Power Plant led by Young-Cool Park and trained in modern, contemporary dance at Trust Dance Theatre.
As a dancer, facilitator, interpreter and translator, she works with forging ties between different cultures and disciplines, diving in and out of states of awareness activated in the process of working with others. From 2020 she worked with Hyeong-hee Kim at Trust Dance Theatre, where she performed active roles in projects centered around artists and adolescents with disabilities, children without access to arts education, and Cultural Partnership Initiative, inviting Central Asian and South East Asian dancers and producers to South Korea.
In 2022, she was a coordinator of Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul (EXiS) and a teaching assistant at Hand-made Film Lab Space Cell, after having worked with traces of task-based performances in 16mm film as a final product of a Choreography Lab that took place in Seoul Dance Center. As a 2023 danceWEB scholar in the frame of ImPulsTanz, she hopes to delve more deeply into art practice that focuses on forming symbiotic relationships with the audience and the environment.
